Painting Clouds on Your Ceiling

It's a project many of us think about...but few actually try.  It just seems too complicated, too time-consuming.  But in reality, it's not as difficult as you may think....

MATERIALS

  • Blue Paint (for your ceiling)
  • White Paint (for your clouds)
  • Latex Glaze
  • 2-3 Sea Sponges
  • Cotton Rags
  • Poster Board (for samples)
  • Pictures of Clouds (for reference)
  • Large Paper Grocery Bags
  • Roller Cover
  • Roller Frame
  • Extension Handle
  • Paint Tray
  • Tray Liner
  • Drop Cloths
  • Brush

GETTING STARTED

1.  After carefully selecting your blue color for the sky (buy some sample jars if you have to), paint your ceiling and let the surface dry for at least 24 hours.  While you're at it, paint your blue paint on your poster board sheets as well.  (Don't skip this step because these are the surfaces you'll practice on later!)

2.  Take your glaze and mix it with your white paint in roughly a 3 - 1 ratio (3 parts glaze to 1 part paint).
