Phase 2

Operation: Salvage the Season--PHASE 2

Phase 2The Tigers' success is in YOUR hands now.

RepcoLite's sources within the Detroit Tigers' organization informed us recently that a number of players were struggling with home improvement projects they could not complete (see Update1 of the Operation Blog)

The Original Letter

Fearing that their distraction over their home improvement projects was the reason for their poor start this Spring, RepcoLite Paints launched Operation: Salvage the Season.  We mailed a letter to Mike Ilitch offering free products and all the help we could provide to get the Tigers back on track.

The Initial Response

The Front Office of the Detroit Tigers responded last week to the letter we mailed to Mike Ilitch.  They thanked us for our concern and they assured us they would pass our offer of free paint on to the Tigers' players.

The Dead End

Unfortunately, that's where the endeavor died.  The players have not responded and, our sources confirm that the reason is simply this:  the Tigers' players are just too embarassed to accept free paint.

The Command Staff at Operation: Salvage the Season Headquarters maintains that the Tigers' inconsistent play is indeed the result of their unfinished home improvement projects.  We also maintain that until those projects are completed to the satisfaction of the each player, the team will continue to be distracted and inconsistent on the field.

Therefore, because of our commitment to producing a successful 2008 season, RepcoLite has no option but to launch Phase 2 of Operation: Salvage the Season.

Phase 2:  A Letter-Writing Campaign (and some great prizes to boot!)

Phase 2 of Operation: Salvage the Season will put the power of helping the Tigers succeed in YOUR hands.  Here's the basic idea:  RepcoLite is asking each of you--anyone who has a deeply rooted desire to see the Tigers succeed--to write a letter to a Tiger of your choice.  In the letter, we are encouraging you to ask that player to please "take the paint and Salvage the Season."

Once you've written your letter, please bring it in an UNSEALED envelope to any RepcoLite or Port City Paints store and drop it off.  We will address it to the proper player and we'll provide postage all everything necessary to get it to the player it should go to.

The Guidelines

  • BE CONCISE:  Please limit the letters to a couple paragraphs of text (we don't want to overload the Tigers' players with so much info that they just toss the letter right away).
  • BE CREATIVE:  Have fun with the letter (but keep it clean!)
  • You MUST include the phrase: "TAKE THE PAINT AND SALVAGE THE SEASON" in the body of the letter at some point.
  • BE RESPECTFUL:  Please be respectful in your letters--nothing disrespectful or derogatory will be mailed (remember, we're trying to help them out, not tear them apart).
  • Bring the finished letters to any RepcoLite or Port City store in an UNSEALED envelope (the reason for this is twofold:  1) we want to be able to evaluate the letters so we can determine the various winners of our great prizes; and 2) we want to be absolutely certain that we're not involved in mailing anything derogatory to the Tigers' players.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING ON THIS!!)
  • You must fill out a "contact form" at our store when you drop off your letter (afterall, if you win one of the prizes, we need to be able to get in touch with you).

In Conclusion...

The Command Staff at Operation: Salvage the Season feels that a tidal wave of these Operation letters will accomplish at least two of these three main objectives:  1) The letters will push the Tigers players to accept the offer of free paint; 2) The letters will convince the Tigers of the strong fan base in West Michigan; and 3) The letters will convince one or two of the Tigers (or more) to make an appearance at one of the RepcoLite stores and pick up their free paint in person.

We appreciate your help with this and we will post all winners on the website as well as links to the winning letters.
